Preparing optical discs (CD/DVD/BD) ๐ผ
Linux, BSD, Unix ๐ผ
cdrecord or cdrskin
Getting the device name ๐ผ
- Both cdrskin and cdrecord will find the device name automatically if there is only one drive/writer.
- if that doesn't work or you have more than one device capable of writing optical disks, you may need to provide the device of the disc writer you want to use (
dev=/dev/[device])
Generally running dmesg | grep cd and trying to find the dev name there should work. Note: You may/most likely have to be root run dmesg.
More comforatble methods:
- In case you're using
cdrskin, you can run
cdrskin --devices
- Linux-based systems (all of them? most of most? just xy of them?)
$ cat /โproc/โsys/โdev/โcdrom/โinfo | grep "drive name"โ
drive name:โ sr0
Mac OS ๐ผ
- https://devuan.org/os/documentation/install mentions, you can use "'Disk Utility' on OSX"
- see also https://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#record-mac
