Agenda 🔼

Old Business 🔼

  • (golinux) Ascii theming is finally finished!!!
  • (golinux) talk.d.o. came up again in the list. We've discussed it several times but there has been no action to prevent users from getting outdated information there.
  • (evilham) waiting to have access there :-D I hope we can kill that server soon and statically host it somewhere else. files.devuan.org migration and themeing (vm is ready, contents need to be moved from
  1. devuan's developers manual
  • (jrml) still pending, planning to get it to a good stage this week talk.devuan.org access for static backup and close the droplet daniel has it, he still needs to send credentials (to besolicitated)

New Business 🔼

  • consistent backup strategy
  • we do have backups, but we are quite fragmented in the way we do them
  • perhaps the possibility to use more hosting at obeardly's is an occasion
  • there is here an open task for anyone wanting to elaborate and document a unified backup strategy proposal for devuan
  * the webserver needs lovance and cleaning up
  * its left not updated since

  * we need a plan for ipv6 connectivity of ci arms
  * there is a bridge that evilham has at ungleich
  * its' ok for the time being, the setup needs to be shared
  • started on packaging of "vtap"
  • it connects to interface taps to hosts over ssh, a virtual cable between
  • there is no debian package yet. it relies on a C program that rrq made ad-hoc previously in the infrastructure-doc

New Actions 🔼

KatolaZ 🔼

  • With rrq, upgraded all the instances and nodes to ascii
  • With rrq, installed KPTI-patched kernels on all instances and nodes !! so all our infrastructure is now officially on ascii !! definitely eating our own dogfood
  • worked on the CDN (deb.devuan.org) -- (with jaromil and nextime):
  • helped mirrors setting up their config to serve files for deb.devuan.org
  • updated the package mirror walkthrough
  • implemented sanity and integrity checks for all package mirrors (especially for those in the DNS-RR) some mirrors have different paths, some have redirect to https (not eligible for RR) so we need to refine more tests to cover all corner cases and make a mirror list that is eligible for RR conforming to paths server and other parameters
  • we currently have 10 mirrors in the CDN -- adding more (o'beardly has offered to host a mirror in the US) we have now 10 mirrors in the CDN one more is coming up in the US from obeardly (the 1st one in the USA so actually very needed)
  • scripts and documentation re CDN and mirrors are at: https://git.devuan.org/devuan-infrastructure/infrastructure_doc/tree/master/pkgmaster
  • please help testing deb.devuan.org (put it in your sources.list: it should be safe...) to be spread among developers and experienced people for now, who can give us detailed reports in case of failure
  • worked on a POC to show webpages with package information -- link to be posted during the meeting :P ....waiting for the surprise! <-- <3 upcoming plans:
  • still need to update d1h
  • still need to update reportbug
  • still need to finish up minimal-live images (should be done soon)

parazyd 🔼

  • can attend text mode. will be online on irc for any questions
  • built util-linux for arm64, now all ascii debootstraps work this is a reason to celebrate :^) plus we are going to get softiron servers soon ?? and some are set on ungleich premises: what's their actual status? are they running jenkins arms? ??
  • (parazyd) i've set up two of their overdrives with devuan. not sure what they are doing with them now used one for a test on devuan ci, but not needed anymore. of course, when we get ours we can add more build hosts to our ci. arm64 and arm{hf,el} kvm on that one. yes, see new business and evilham update
  • arm-sdk is almost ready - chromebooks need some polishing

rrq 🔼

  • revised the dev1galaxy "snaplock", to respond to tcp with a text file rather than just dropping packets.
  • added [c] tag to the bbcode, and tool tips on the bbcode "buttons". (Unverified translations)
  • upgraded VM to ascii (with KatolaZ)
  • run into funny business with devuan-baseconf(?); it brought up a whiptail wanting to assist with the sources.list (or something) (not sure what/why -- ^Z to whiptail [through ssh] is not a good idea as it refuses to continue). All fine/quiet on second attempt.
  • started on packaging of "vtap" it connects to interface taps to hosts over ssh, a virtual cable between taps there is no debian package yet. it relies on a C program that rrq made ad-hoc

blinkdog 🔼

fsmithred 🔼

  • Working with debdog on German translation of refractainstaller (cli)
  • New refractainstaller is ready except for translation.
  • now supports gpt with bios boot.
  • did some reorganization of code, so this should probably go into ascii-proposed first (but not too long, because the current version in the repo has a couple of bugs.)
  • test iso with new installer and partial translation is available at http://distro.ibiblio.org/refracta/files/experimental/refracta-test-de-20180110_1555.iso
  • desktop-base is ready unless Dan objects. Should I make a merge request? yes! action for CenturionDan else in one week we override the repo

evilham 🔼

  • Tons of work with yearchange / company start; now prioritising tasks and trying to set time apart for Devuan. IIRC, these are the most pressing matters:
  • Website revamping / content auditing
  • pkg mirror list update based on KatolaZ' data source
  • check vagrant / docker things
  • (golinux) Update sources.list to add pkgmaster
  • talk.d.o softiron arm64 servers at ungleich they are there, only on
  1. evilham is the contact person with access to them (evilham) Parazyd actually :-D I only ahve the ipv4-->ipv6 bridge :). Bridge btw is down, I can spawn it again any time, just drop me an email (forgot the hostname :-D). there was a small outage during vacations, but that's fixed now we need a plan for ipv6 connectivity of ci arms

chillfan 🔼

  • we all cheer up for the great docs!! rounding up on the translations all fine, no need for help besides the usual workflow

obeardly 🔼

  • working immediately on a US based repo immediately
  • let me know what you plan for the server in place
  • and if you need any more hardware, there is

jaromil 🔼

  • started chewing the iso-installer procedure on a machine we have dedicated to it at dyne
  • its OK so far after a few hours of hacking but needs a bit more
  • there is a mess in the way installers are imported into the apt-mirror
  • if daniel is around could be helpful, else i'm going to bang my head further onto it
  • hope to have a netinst internal release this week
  • for the rest i'm going to dedicate time to the devuan's developer manual which is actually there for a first internal release but needs more smoothing around the edges
