New Business 🔼

- Devuan documentation
- blinkdog, chillfan, golinux and I had a documentation meet on Friday, Jan 12
- Notes from that meeting have been sent to the devuan-dev list and are also available on the pad we used: https://pad.dyne.org/code/#/1/view/gpYc1DChNCgm1CIKcbwoog/FPyMa+MlLIIJ17bjaREXmxwkpgD2hLnhbFs5S2lOqQk/
- next meeting yet to be scheduled
- proposals need to be discussed
- Structure
- We're going with Manual, guides, howtos, developers' docs as a categorization for now.
- Naming and versioning
- Naming scheme for Devuan Manual: Devuan [MAJOR RELEASE VERSION].x ([RELEASE CODE NAME]) Manual
- Don't entangle the version numbers of release-specific manuals with Devuan's release version.
- Versions of the Devuan Manual for a particular (major) release start at 1.0.0
- (golinux) Would someone using an older (not updated) version need to have access to older documentation versions? That might be a reason for keeping them around insteading of continuously updating them. If that's a good reason (which it may not be) and the changes are minor, maybe we could post them in an addendum (maybe not the right word) to the current
- Licensing
- (blinkdog) The GFDL seems focused on paper/printed manuals, and the Front Cover, Back Cover, Invariant Section portions of the license are difficult to understand and apply; especially to pure digital content.
- (blinkdog) As a possible alternative, the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license would allow us to do a GNU-like documentation share-and-share-alike. You have to maintain contributor history (which the wiki does automatically), but anybody is free to fork and remix the documentation, so long as they let others do the
- It may be a good alternative to the GFDL that preserves the goals, but in a more understandable and straightforward
- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
- We're going with that license. (devuan.org is already using it.)
- All contributions will be put under that license as part of Devuan's official docs.
- (They may still be published under other licenses outside of that if need be.)
- Have a general notice about the license used in the Wiki's footer as well as the footers of individual documents (Manual, howto etc.) when they are released.
rrq will attend 🔼
KatolaZ (will attend, maybe a bit later) 🔼
- worked on mirrors - improved check for reliability and update (will ask RR-mirrors to increment the update frequency to once/30-60min)
- helped with the upload of elogind and consolekit2 to experimental
- worked with parazyd on installer images -- still on it (glitches, cruft, etc.)
- worked a bit on minimal-live - almost there
- worked on info.devuan.mine.nu -- added all the suites -- still need to improve a few things, and then will work a bit on the graphical aspect (but I am not too much eager to do that)
parazyd 🔼
- been hacking with katolaz on the installers. we manage to build isos, but something in d-i is broken that needs more investigation
- maemo leste proceeding well. we managed to rebase all our code to be compatible with ascii, and we're pushing openrc which is behaving okay
- if anyone is interested: https://github.com/maemo-leste
- maemo leste will be very helpful for openrc integration as we're porting all our initscripts (about 90% done) to openrheloc.
- they were based on upstart
- i updated our ascii rsyslog: https://git.devuan.org/devuan-packages/rsyslog/commit/526fee41744821c6ebe0d6e3d1153567b85a1d3b
- sent the same patch upstream can anyone comment on the below?
- status of ipv6 on the OVH infra? can we provide mirrors/websites/git over ip6? what about tor?
- we have /64 on the nodes
- the bridges (tap interfaces?) are set up for ip4
gnu_srs 🔼
- Can somebody be instrumental in making policykit-1 and xfce-session built :)
- Not the first priority atm
- we are prioritizing on getting the installers working, and once we manage to perform proper installations using the built installers, we proceed on tasks with lower prio.
- let us know if there is something urgent you need it for though.
- Can you whoever you are identify yourself. Not nice to know who is writing this on behalf of the Devuan project :(
- KatolaZ did most if not all of the talking with a few comments from
- golinux wrote the short summary. Not sure about the other
- I'm assuming KatolaZ
fsmithred 🔼
- I need guidance on how to make a patch for cpdp. I assume I need to re-import the mercurial repo to start fresh. I did that, and I noticed that there's a patch in my repo that's not in the imported repo. @KatolaZ can help with this
- Any ideas where this file came from? I didn't consciously add it. https://git.devuan.org/fsmithred/clearlooks-phenix-darkpurpy-theme/blob/debian/debian/patches/css-fixups.patch
Here's the repo I imported: https://anonscm.debian.org/hg/collab-maint/clearlooks-phenix-theme
Here's the upstream repo (not debianized): https://github.com/jpfleury/clearlooks-phenix
obeardly 🔼
- Still waiting on hardware for US based mirror. Should be here Friday. Hopefully US mirror will be online by Saturday 20 Feb 2018.
- Where are we on repurposing the original Amprolla server? @KatolaZ: maybe use it as a server for backup? Link to the pad by Evilham?
golinux 🔼
- still polishing CPDP a bit.
- Updated the theme for refracta ascii.
- FSR rolled an ascii iso for me so I'm finally up and running on VB. Still a minor glitch with USB yet to work out.
- interesting discussion on DUF to clarify what systemd-free means because there's a lot of confusion in the wild. systemd disabled as init or systemd disabled as init PLUS removal of entanglements. There are actually quite a few Devuan users still hanging out there and many more planning to jump ship. No slaps from the mods which is
New Actions 🔼
- ACTION (LOW PRIO): experiment with ipv6 on ganeti nodes, to provide package mirror over ip6. this helps the telmich datacenter to have their own local mirror more easily
- ACTION (LOW PRIO): proper backup strategy. Please add notes to the following https://pad.dyne.org/code/#/1/view/WJYMnYUmVK5re-f2V5MZZw/b7cbs8+D5V763z6a9rEQ7bvW6SDx0ZZTkfuwsD2p4fo/
