Notes 🔼

Alv 🔼

  • I'm here just to see if we can work with this system !!!! i mean dyne jitsi system !!! there was many problems in the past so just let me see if i can solve these problems on a real time :D session.
  • (blinkdog) Does this show up on jitsi?
  • (Alv) Yes it show up.

golinux 🔼

  • Working on customizing the pad but not easy to do without direct visual feedback. New base color will be #C8D77F when it finally gets implemented and the fist will be back!! Pad is a leafyish green here but only in private mode . . . go figure . . .
  • Will there be a release starting with 'C' after Beowulf? Or will Ceres be the only 'C' ever used?
  • good suggestion: use a C, but make it a "hard" C (pronounced as K)
  • Evilham and I rewrote the /os/releases page.
  • I released Tobias Hunger's uefi email from moderation since things have been a bit slow. Have fun everyone!
  • Note for editing this pad. Please add you name at the beginning of your comments.

jaromil 🔼

  • we have upgraded and moved our mailserver to another ip: 195.169.149.119 (now hosted on academic network)
  • Devuan's MX needs to point now to that IP but PROBLEM: is impossible to change the MX record for an empty vhost using the lousy nodejs script that can update entries from the OVH API. I've contacted nextime to help for this, but any help is appreciated (perhaps we can just shoot a json struct on their REST API?..)
  • (jaromil) FIXED with help by nextime
  • (golinux) Another issue raised in an email several days ago. The link to the 'devuan-dev Archives' on this page: https://mailinglists.dyne.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/devuan-dev goes to:
  Not Found
The requested URL /pipermail/devuan-dev/ was not found on this server.

  * (golinux) I thought that the list was now public . . .
    * (jaromil) ACK - will fix that
* (golinux) The link to the DNG archives is also non-functional

blinkdog 🔼

    * (golinux) I think it's gone past the 'proposal' stage. Everything is moving along smoothly in that configuration.
* redis drops non-systemd support in Debian

parazyd 🔼

  • what are we doing with antofox's repos? how and where do we import them (there's about a hundred packages)
  • ACTION: @parazyd will produce a one-shot script to import the repos and build them
    • stuck building util-linux for ascii (need more eyes on this)
  • ACTION: @CenturionDan will have a look at it (he has past experience on that)
  • (tremon) I may have time for this next weekend would be helpful to have a problem description
    • rsyslog seems to be working, and the sdk can now bootstrap ascii without hacks
  • the devuan onion address now resolves to pkgmaster and not to packages.do anymore
  • ACTION: @everybody find a viable solution for the CDN (for mirrors)
  • ACTION: @golinux send and email to DNG saying that amprolla3 is now working
  • (parazyd) WAIT THOUGH, THAT WE TERMINATE THE MIGRATION TO THE NEW SERVER
  • (golinux) When?
  • (golinux) Please type the location here.
    • (parazyd) auto.mirror.devuan.org -> pkgmaster.devuan.org
    • (golinux) Thanks. Got it.
  • time to attend important outdated packages
  • i can do most if needed, but let me know if you'd like to pick up any

tremon 🔼

  • given https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=864074#40
  • could we consider rebuilding vim with the proposed vimrc patch enabled by default?
  • (it's a lot of work for a very minor change, but the default configuration is annoying)
    • (~parazyd) YES! however, is debian attending to this?
    • (tremon) as far as I can tell, the debian maintainer is perfectly happy to break all existing setups and expects all users to edit vimrc themselves
  • ACTION: make a package with all sane config files (starting with vim)

KatolaZ 🔼

  • (will attend, mostly listening, working on the cluster)
  • fixed problems on amprolla3 with parazyd
  • pkgmaster config complete
  • worked on moving instances from nemesis to newtonia -- tests are OK
  • (WARNING: THIS IS A MOVE NOT A MIGRATE!!! There is no drbd configured yet!!!)
  • will move amprolla3 next, and see if it works fine
  • then will move pkgmaster, and ask jrml/dan to chenge the DNS record
  • working also on drbd -- let's see if it makes sense to set it up on nemesis, or if it's better to have it once we have all the instances on newtonia
  • when pkgmaster is on newtonia, WE WILL BE READY FOR PKG MIRRORS.
  • if everything goes well with amprolla+pkgmaster, we will move galaxy and then gitlab (the only problem is that MOVE implies a small downtime, which might not be critical, if correclty planned and
  1. drbd implies a downtime as well, to convert a plain image to a drbd one)
  • when all services will be on newtonia, we will switch the master there, can shut nemesis down (hopefully 2 weeks?), and get another node identical to newtonia for failover.
  • we need to put in place an appropriate backup strategy
  • ACTION: think about it
  • will try to have a look at util-linux for ascii (liaising with
  • my plan is to have an alpha of ascii out asap, so that people can report bugs
  • (parazyd) for this, we have to complete my proposed ascii roadmap which should render it usable
    • (~KatolaZ) TOTALLY AGREE -
  • Any solutions of the eudev version numbering including epoch?
  • There has been a lot of postings about network interfaces renamed in eudev:
    • (gnu_srs) Which solution should be implemented?
  • (gnu_srs) Back to an old question: How to create isos including devuan-installer?
  • (fsmithred) We need to review the package selection in the installer
    • example: dvd does not have wicd on it. Bad for install from media without mirror.
  • PERSONAL DREAM: first ascii beta by 31/12/2017 (beta on 27/11/2017 would be GREAT)

Things to be tried for ascii 🔼

  • upgrade devuan jessie -> ascii (works)
  • upgrade debian jessie -> ascii (???)
  • fresh ascii install (should work now that rsyslog is fixed)
  • Debian has a tool named piuparts, usable? (gnu_srs)

onefang 🔼

  • Attending, though only listening.
  • YAY package repo mirrors. B-)
  • I tested video last time, it soaked up two days worth of my bandwidth
  1. So testing to see what audio only does to abuse my quota.
  • ACTION: help test out package mirroring on my mirror server.
